Audition Rules
Any and ALL dancers desiring to be a part of either the Platinum Elite or Gold Dance Company MUST audition annually every August. This allows dancers the opportunity to progress into higher levels of the dance company. There are no exceptions or allowances to this rule even if you have danced with Blue Flame before, as the skill level and performance level of a dancer can change over time depending on attitude, regular practice, etc.
Note: Dancers of the Platinum Elite Dance Company hold first preference to be hired for professional events through our Talent Agency as well as first preference for high-profile performances.
Blue Flame Professional Dancer Criteria
- Energy: Energy should be full and consistent throughout the performance.
- Ability to learn quickly and accurately. Dancers should be willing and able to learn new techniques and styles.
- Technique: Dancers should be well-versed in various dance styles.
- Athleticism: We look for flexibility, balance, posture, strength, and endurance. A dancer should be in good enough shape to be able to perform a strong consistent performance, and to be able to do a range of dance moves.
- Expression: Facial expressions, eye and head movement, and body language should be consistently strong and appropriate with the mood/feel of the performance throughout. Acting is an important part of dancing.
- Confidence and X-Factor. It is important that a stage performer is able to mask anxiety in any performance environment, and show excitement and confidence. Should be willing to step out of comfort zone. X-Factor comes when a dancer can forget everything and perform out of the pure joy of dancing.
- Attitude and Professionalism: Blue Flame dancers are expected to keep a positive attitude, be a team player, speak professionally and respectfully, and keep personal issues and emotions separate from their performance. Talent and skill alone do not make a professional performer.
